M-42 Duster - Motorized?

Am I reading this right? It comes with the gearbox, battery box, switch, etc?

I've seen all the old Tamiya kits with the chassis' cut out for motorization, but I never thought they would release them again.

Was the M-42 a post Korea tank?

Not a tank, but a self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery gun. Based on the M41 Walker Bulldog chassis, it saw combat use in Vietnam and the ADA units in the National Guard were still using them as late as summer 1985 (perhaps beyond).

Tamiya reissued the M41 and M42 completed with modernized motorization systems to capitalize on the M41 craze when AFV Club and Skybow both put out all new tooled M41 versions.

Tamiya has also issued some of the more modern kits like the new Tiger, Leopard and Abrams tank with miniature radio controlled systems. I've got the Abrams kit for my collection.

Sorry! My brother is a landscaper and he always bugs me when I call it dirt (its soil amendments) :-)

This puppy is not R/C but comes with an on/off switch and internal motor and batteries -- welcome back to 1967.

The M42 was a post-Korea design that took the turret and concept of the M19 "Twin Forty" and put it on a new hull, namely that of the M41. M41s WERE out before the end of Korea, but it was decided not to send them. Only member of the family that went and served was the M75 APC.

IIRC AFV Club is doing a new one based on their excellent M41 kit.
