No your on newsgroups, the main advantage over forums to newsgroups is retention, post's in newsgroups are only available, depending on your ISP, for up to a few week's, the forum is a website that has a MySql database where the information is stored as long as the website is up and running, and post's are never removed, so it becomes a valuable source of searchable information that will help people both new and old to scale models :)
Just have a look round, you don't need to register to look only to post, and you never know you just might like it ;)
