Trumpeter LSM Diorama Question

Ordered the kit and the Dragon 29th Regiment figs. Want to combine them in a D-Day setting, but am not sure if they will work together.

Did the LSM's come up to the shore during the initial fighting? The Dragon figs are in attack and concealment poses so I think that will be a problem if the two kits were not on the beach at the same time during the fighting. thought initially that the tanks were unloaded off shore and waded in, and did not land on the beach until the fighting was inland.

anyone confirm for me or offer a scenario where the two kits would work together?

thx - Craig

From what I've read the initial waves of assault infantry were carried in LCVPs and LCAs. LCMs were primarily used for second wave engineer teams designated to create gaps in the beach and sea wall defenses. I believe the only vehicles they brought close to shore were engineering vehicles...armored dozers, BARVs, etc. American DD tanks were all launched off shore...most sank long before reaching the beach. The few that survived were brought in closer than intended, but still far from the shore. LCTs landed most vehicles in later waves. If you really want maximum accuracy you'd need to have the figures loaded with lots of engineering and demolition equipment. My sense is movement and concealment poses would be the most accurate. I don't think there was too much shooting until units got off the beach, past the shingle and into the dunes.

Hope this helps.
