2004/SP1 Possible CTD bug

Can anyone else verify if the following sequence of events will CTD

Open drawing Select a driving dimension with cursor Select the Line Font icon from Command Manager Crash!

Happens to me everytime if executed in the order given. I can select Line Font from Command Manager first and then dimension without crashing.

Ok, I give up. I'm on 2004 SP1.0 and can't, for the life of me, find a Line Font anything in the Command Manager. What am I missing? (Something obvious, I presume - a rather humbling experience.)

Thank You Wayne,

I couldn't find it either, but was unwilling to step out and say so!

I believe he's referring to the flyout button for line formate....means he customized the manager

I customized the Command Manager to bring up the Line Formats button, and when I click on it Solidworks CTD.

I managed to repet this behavior today as well.........don't really know how I did it yesterday ...tried it several times on my laptop but it didn't take me to the desktop.

Boy, oh boy, that one hits hard. I added the Line Formats button as stated, and can crash it every time. It appears that it's not just related to a driving dimension, it dies on a regular dim, note, balloon, etc. I also tried selecting multiple items at a time - no difference. If you click on the box to bring the items up on the CM line, you can select any that you wish and all is well. However, if you click on the down arrow, it crashes immediately - do not pass Go, do not collect $200. Also kind of weird is that the error box (you know -"SW has terminated...") can't be closed unless I click on some other window first , and then go back and click the OK.

Now then, all that being said, if you select a line or circle, or something, it appears to work as it should. If you select a line and a note, it crashes. So, the issue appears to be that it can't handle an incorrect object being part of the selection set.

i actually have an SPR on the expand arrow for the layer tool ALWAYS crashing SW.

supposedly slated for a fix in sp2.0.

seems that it got better in sp1.0, but not fixed. probably just dumb luck.

Same here -

Windows 2000, SP4 SWKS 2004, SP1

I get a banner message reporting the unhandled error, then the program (without a "mercy" killing via the Windows Task Manager) takes a painfully long time to die.

I don't understand why the system resources can't be relinquished more easily...
