Mating a spring over cylinder

How do you mate a spring over a cylinder? (Concentric obviously won't work)

Thanks

align the axes (centerlines) of each.

Alex,

Concetric "will" work. but first you have to create an axis feature in the spring model.

It's easy. In the spring model, make the base sketch for the helix, and the plane it's sketched on, visible. Select the center point of the circle, and the plane. Click the "axis" icon, (reference geometry toolbar). It should create an axis perpendicular to the plane, through the center point of the circle. This axis can be used in assemblies for concentric mating.

Regards

Mark

Every spring I've ever modelled included an axis feature for the body centerline.

Using the axis feature is good. Another method is to use Planes. Best Regards, Devon T. Sowell
