project time logger for billable hours, etc

i've seen requests for this type of thing in the past, so in case anyone's still interested, here's one. i haven't used it yet, but in a cursory look, it seemed possibly useful (and it's free).

I was probably the one that was asking about it in this group some time ago, that you are remembering,. I finally found one that I like. I've been using Timebox for over a year now

It is super easy to use.

One thing that I like about it that I had not seen in others that I had tried was being able to set up common tasks to track within your projects. When I switch projects, I also can select a task within that project. For example, I have tasks setup for design, detailing, engineering change, electrode design, misc., etc. Helps the boss get an overall picture of how much time was spent in each phase of engineering time per project. Tasks are "sticky", meaning that you don't have to set them up for each new project.

Highly recommended!

I had a look at TimeBox. One interesting thing is that it runs cross platform. Windows, Mac and Linux. It also has a server app that will gather up records from individual TimeBox apps. I only wish they had a PalmOS version too.

Yeah, its pretty cool. I believe the reason that it runs cross-platform is that it is Java based (I think).

I didn't get the server app since I am the only one here tracking my time via computer. It would have been a waste of money. Can't comment on how that actually works...

I guess the application I had for it is to help supervision see what their people are doing so that those people can manage their own time. I think that will improve efficiency while letting the powers that be know what is going on. Otherwise we don't have a lot of need for this.

I've used this for a year or two and find it really good. And very, very, easy to use on the fly when changing jobs back and forth. Have a look -
