Here are the testing results from my new workstation. Computer info: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+(DC3700) from Xi systems

4.0 GB ECC PC3200 400MHz Ram nVidia Quadro FX 1400 150 GB 10kRPM Western Digital Raptor drive Dual boot with XP Pro and XP64

Old computer: P4 2.53GHz(2002 Xi System), 1.5GB PC2100 RAM, nVidia Quadro4 750XGL

All of the tests were ran on SW2006, SP3.4, 1280x1024 resolution Ship in a bottle: Old Computer: 51.86/49.94/39.80/39.76 New XP Pro: 31.67/29.86/23.50/23.53 New XP64: 31.79/30.50/24.14/24.13

Patbench (Rebuild #-Time in seconds) Old Computer

8-9.32, 9-17.47, 10-42.16, 11-219.11, 12-Unable to obtain required mem.

New XP Pro

8-7.29, 9-11.51, 10-22.16, 11-109.41, 12-264-98, 13-541.66, 14-Unable to obtain required memory.

New XP64

8-7.49, 9-11.67, 10-22.40, 11-106.86, 12-266.63, 13-631.35, 14-1919.33, 15-Unable to obtain required memory.

Interesing data. I'm actually impressed that Windows 64 can run the 32-bit SW with speed comparable to it's native environment.

Is there any chance you can install 64-bit 2006 and run a set of tests for that? I suspect that 64-bit SW could complete level 15 of the Patbench, and I'm curious to see if there is a performance difference between 32 and 64 bit SW.

We ran some tests back when we got our 64-bit machine. There was no big performance difference between SW06 64bit beta and SW06 2.1. 64bit was usually, but not always, 5-10% slower.

We only ran Patbench up to level 12 on that machine.

That was on the first version of SW06beta. I see that sw07 beta v4 is up now. Perhaps they have made some changes. Unfortunately, we probably won't have time to do any testing till after SW7 ships.
