Solid Edge is adding alot of Surface Power

I wonder if SW will have to beef up the surfacing capabilities because of Solid Edge's latest release and it focus on that for product designers? Hopefully this will get a fire under there seat to be more proactive in this area.

Well, there's some positives and negatives to consider. Seems like every time they give us some "surfacing enhancements" we also get enormous increases in the size of the installation, and complexity, and also inconsistencies in existing features rebuilding (to which Paul Salvador and many others will attest), and more bugs, and increased potential for regressions in service packs. Not that I think such things are the NECESSARY fallout from increasing complex geometry capability, but with SolidWorks Corp it certainly seems to be the trend.

Bottom line: be careful what you wish for . . . you might get it.
