I use a refurbished Dell M40 (P3, 1.2, Quadro graphics, 1600x1200 display, 512MB PC133 RAM, 48GB 5400RPM HD, cdrw/dvd-rom), and it does pretty well, though I'm starting to need something with more RAM and a faster hard drive for big assemblies and FEA. It was benchmarked faster than a P4 1.7ghz desktop machine when it first came out:
I believe you can pick these up for about $1000 on eBay right now, but there aren't many around.
The graphics and display are awesome, by the way, and I just watched a DVD on a long car trip today. Hope this helps!
