UP Gas Turbines- Ever in HO?

Just wondering has any company ever built an HO version of Union Pacific's Gas Turbine BoBo or CoCo locomotives? I thought I spotted something here a while back about some conversion kit that was previously available to build this. But any information is appreciated.

Thanks, Eric

Back about 1987 Dan Peters Models made a resin bodied HO model of UP #51, one of the first series (flat sides, not the "veranda" version) of GE 4500 HP single unit turbines. This used Athearn AAR type B trucks and an Athearn motor which powered all 16 wheels.

More recently, there was a post on this group as follows:

And I believe all 4 UP turbines (the double ended #50, the 51-60's, the verandas, and the 3 unit 8500 HP units) have been offered in brass. GQ

To answer the question, there have been MANY HO versions of every UP turbine type, including the original WWII era GE, though most have been in brass.

About ten years ago, there was a plastic one based on Athearn running gear of the 51 series (the "modern" turbine with single end), and there is currently a resin kit for the same loco. Now Lionel has announced a "veranda" model turbine in die cast metal.

Turbine BoBo or CoCo locomotives?

I believe that Lionel has their sights on this engine as their next big HO Scale release follwing their Challenger. I am trying to remember where I read this. It might have been on a train store website located in Manhattan, NYC.

Imported by PFM and and Overland in the past, in brass. You might find one at one of the consignment store - buy a recent MR and RMC, and check out the ads in the back. Or place your own classified, if you really want one. Overland's was priced arounfd $1500 IIRC.

Pacific's Gas Turbine BoBo or CoCo locomotives?

Going back to the 1970's I believe ALL the variations were also done in brass by SoHo and/or Alco models. I seem to recall even West Side having one or two (but no way to check that at the moment)

And more recently, Overland did the huge GE pre-WW 2 jobs.
