There is a Merryweather-badged 2 1/2 hp 1922 model Petter advertised in this months (excellent) SEM. It seems to have a unique feature in that a level indicator has been fitted to the oiler lid, thus overcoming a serious design flaw. Has anyone ever seen this feature on any other 1922 models? regards
Nick,
Just to rub it in a bit more, Ive had my SE since Saturday morning.

SEM arrived in the Welsh hills on Saturday! Are you sure you've paid your sub, Nick?
Speaking of the classifieds, there's a nice early Lister D Bruston lighting set for someone in Ludlow (no connection, usual disclaimers). Thankfully another month when nothing attracted me in the ads.

Is my friend Arthur getting jumpy with this comment (no connection, usual

Actually this thread is a superb example of how a thread is unhelpfully hijacked for want of a change of subject :-) ttfn Roland
Touche, Monsieur Craven! (don't know how to produce an accent over the 'e' on a keyboard).
Sorry to hear you suffered from drunken cretins at Welland. Had a look at Philip's Webshots today, the Sunshine looks very nice. I'd be interested to hear it with that constricted exhaust outlet.
You mentioned selling some engines. If you have a 5hp Appletop you want to shift, I might well be interested. I thought Philip's looked tres jolie, despite the electrical difficulties. The smaller sizes don't appeal to me as much.

Sorry Roland et al, this was not intended to be sent on-group, I plead a combination of temporary insanity, finger trouble and Outlook distress. Oh, and being stirred up by Monsieur Perman!
Duh. Arthur G
temporary insanity, finger trouble and Outlook
It must be this age thing again but there I was trolling along with my spoon when I perchanced upon a change in direction, fleetingly I might add, but the deed had to be done.
Night night

Continuing the hijack:- It's probably b****y Royal Mail again. A couple of months ago some Scott literature which Phillip Gallimore sent me vanished without trace as did another copy of SEM before that :-(
I presume you have seen the ad in last month's SEM for Mike Sage's (Petter M register) red 5 HP apple top pumping set? It's a big impressive piece of kit and AFAIK still available (certainly was at chiltern traction engine club's Prestwood rally three or four weeks ago anyway).
You're obviously teachers pet Martin - prompt replies AND priority delivery of the mag ;-)
Nick, He has been tryihng to seel it for a while now.
Martin P
You are not alone - its the 27th and haven't seen my copy yet either!!

Nick, Just to rub salt ever so slightly more :-)) I sent a piece and pics to SE and got a reply the next day from Gordon Wright.

One tries ones best does one.

I normally get my SEM the day after posting, but this month did not get it at all and had to phone in and ask for a duplicate - which arrived the next day.
It seems to me that there are quite a few of us whose delivery has been deranged - I'll mention it to GW.
Eventually arrived Thurs. Worth the wait, it's nice to see an issue reflecting that we are at the height of the rally season. Don't think I missed much in the classifieds though, National gas engine nice but nor really 'me'.

I was away when mine arrived, but t was probably Thursday.

It appears that the one I got in the post was the original, just took four days longer than usual. I come to this conclusion because today the "replacement" turned up in a plain brown envelope.
It was the August edition, not the current edition, marked "September".
Arrrgh ...........
