Block Instruments

Feb 15, 2013 2 Replies

I wonder if anybody has produced the semblance of block instruments (Clear / Blocked / Train On) by using cheap radio control servos to swing the pointer?

Also, would these servos move fast enough to strike a bell repeatedly (Train running away in wrong direction?)

No, but it's an interesting idea.

A servo can certainly move fast enough to strike a bell repeatedly, depends how fast.

Then a simple astable with a variable mark-space ration (NE555?) would be all that is needed at the sending end to simulate the output of a RC RX to drive the servo.
