Ultrasonic cleaning for loco's?

I am now the proud owner of a jewelry cleaning ultrasonic bath, along with the non-detergent cleaning solution (to be added to the water.

I have a couple of old second hand N Gauge mechanisms that run rough and was thinking of giving them a go in said machine.

Anyone tried this and regretted it?

There's plenty of people who have second-hand N Gauge mechanisms and regretted having them. ;-) The ultrasonic bath should remove lots of muck and oil so you will need to re-oil them (axles, gears and motor bearings) before trying to run them. Some Graham Farish locos have a layshaft inside the chassis driven by spur gears from the motor and having worm gears driving the axles. IMHO if the chassis doesn't survive a short period in the ultrasonic bath then it was due to fail anyway.

G'day All, Seuthe, made (make) a liquid that was very good for the baths. It was sold in larger containers. In Australia I bought from Bill Webb.
