Voron V0 turned into a St Patrick's Day light show

Most desktop printers keep their lighting to a humble status strip, if they have any at all. This build takes another route: an enclosed Voron Design V0, a compact coreXY desktop FDM machine, was kitted out as a full light show to celebrate Patty's Day in style. Customized lighting is the heart of the project, with 86 RGB LEDs doing the work.

The lighting hardware runs through the whole machine. Round LEDs arranged in a grid cover the back wall as a lighting panel, and LED matrix grid panels are mounted on the interior side walls. A custom front enclosure piece carries a hexagonal Voron emblem lit from within, and the front bed handle bears an illuminated Voron logo. Yellow 3D-printed structural and accent components plus strip lights finish the look.

The animated sequence moves through a set of programmed patterns, all timed to an instrumental electronic Irish folk tune. Partway through, the message 'Hapy St Patric's Day!' appears in green across the lower part of the screen. The misspelling is a charming touch.

Assembly clearly demanded patience: the maker soldered each side panel's 20 LEDs in an assembly line fashion. One item remains open: the maker noted the project did not have a tag for light show or printer party.

Soldering that many LEDs by hand is no small job. Did the maker describe what the assembly line approach for the side panels actually involved, like batching steps or working through them in stages?

The maker has only said the side panel LEDs were soldered using an assembly line approach, 20 LEDs on each panel. Beyond that, the maker has not explained how the process was organized.
