Fellow readers,
This week heralded the beginning of a new era in convenience of welding.
My small back gassing tank of argon is now gone.
After much though, a metering valve was mounted on a magnetic base used to hold dial gauges and such instruments. The magnetic base has a switch to activate the internal magnets.
The up side is that the versatility of mounting the valve where it's easy to reach is preserved. Normally it gets mounted under the welding table, and in convenient reach for welding.
By tapping off the regulator with yet another valve, the supply can be shut off at the source in case of hose failure.
Thought those who have elected to mount their valves onto a fixture mounted to the welding table may be interested in the magnetic base approach for added versatility.
