Clothes for when it's hot?

What do people wear for light but continuous shop welding when it's really hot?

Depends on your equipment.

I try to cool the shop down with a portable swamp cooler.

Heavy cotton shirt, jeans, boots. Same as when it's not so hot.

I wear blue jeans and a long sleeve cotton shirt. And drink lots of water. The shirt and the top part of the pants get soaked with sweat. Depending on what kind of welding you are doing, you can have a fan blowing air on yo u. If you can not have a breeze where you are welding, at least you can h ave a fan for when you take a break.

This is a very lucky summer for me. The global warming is suspended in Chicagoland. 70-80 degree weather. We are working very hard these days due to two big scrap deals I came across, and it is very nice to have a cool summer.

The truth is if I need to weld something I weld it. I don't give what I am wearing a second thought unless I am going to be welding vertically or (ick) overhead.

Flannel, or carhart, long sleeve shirt.

After having hundreds of skin cancers frozen and cut off, I try to cover up as much as I can. I wear Wrangler khaki or denim shirts, and a wet t shirt underneath. A Comeaux welding cap soaked in ice water is good for about thirty minutes of relief.

I have about 50 of arc flash suits, they are basically heavy cotton long shirts. I bought them for $83 at an auction. We all use them for welding, torching etc.
