Grrrrrrrrr

I just found out that nitrogen won't MIG worth a darn.

I went the other day and traded out a bottle of mixed gas. Didn't look at the new bottle, as both me and the guy doing the exchange spoke fluent English.

Fast forward today. I get all ready to weld, and the first weld looks crappy. I check the connections and make sure the gas is on. I do another bead. Still funky. I look, and I am welding with Nitrogen.

I turned it up and glopped and bubblegummed some more on there, just a lockbox. My friend said just to put it on, and he'd do some touchup with Bondo and paint.

Sad world. I don't care if it's the Wendy's drive thru window, or the welding store. Ya gotta check your stuff before you leave. What happened to people who know how to make change and fill an order?

Rant off.

Man, don't even go there! Ever noticed how many checkers count back change these days?

1 in 10 MAYBE!

I'm closely watching at the checkout and if they don't count it properly, I pull my hand back and ask them to do it correctly. The first time I ask. The second time I demand it. I've even had to ask for the manager to come and do it.

It's just plain laziness, stupidity, piss poor training, (or combination) but whatever it is, I don't tolerate it.

(Too much coffee this morning ya know)

The only people who don't make mistakes are those who don't do anything. Sure you're annoyed but give the guy a break at least once. I also suspect you are as annoyed at yourself as you are at him. billh

I even took the time to take the metal cap off and make sure the valve was tight. I was inches from the label. And I didn't see it. I was pissed, but not for long. On to the next thing.

I DID take off the cap and make sure that the valve had been closed tightly. ( I had a previous experience where I got the cylinder home and didn't hook it up, and when I did, I had 300 psi.) What's the next thing? You have to carry a pressure gauge and check to see if you get a full cylinder?

Probably.

You have to carry a gas analyzer to make sure that you have the right gas? These are really uncommon occurrences. Most of the times I have gone, they got things right. Yet, over all, it is becoming more and more common.

And, it's usually some twentysomething spikey haired idiot with one or more body piercings or tattoos. Animated. Talking a mile a minute. Can't stand still. Too bad they didn't pay the $400 for the tattoo on a community college course.

Rant off. AGAIN.

Steve

Just be happy you got nitrogen instead of Nitrous Oxide. Then again if you had gotten the NOX you might be happier yet .. till they took off the bandages and told you how much it was going to cost to replace the shop... :)
