Miller 251 Question

Sep 25, 2003 1 Replies

I recently posted a question concerning a welding setup and one gentlemen suggested the 251 with 30A Spoolgun. I like the setup and know it will be sufficient for my building projects but wanted to know if it is compatible with autobody work (fenders, quarters, etc..). as well. I do suppose it will handle frames?

Thanks,

Newbie Jack.

For sheet metal go to a smaller wire.

0.024" or 0.030" wire work well for sheet metal.

At school we leave all 3 Miller 250Xs loaded with 0.035" wire.

0.035" wire covers a wide range of work.

In my shop I leave my Betamig 250 loaded with 0.035" Dual-shield wire. I use my Handler 120 for thin stuff. The Betamig is mostly used for 1/4" steel and heavier.

With the spoolgun you can swap out wire sizes very easily.
