MM 175 & FC mig wire storage

I recently got a MM 175. I bought two 2 lb. spools of .035 FC wire since I do not have any tanks. I installed one of the spools and have done some welding. Here in the NW (Puget Sound) we have a lot of moisture (i.e., rain) and I was wondering since I do more hobby type welding and thus don't use it all that often, should I be storing the FC wire after every use. That is should I undo the wire from the welder and spool it back up, then store it in say a ziplock baggie with some baby powder or some other relatively moisture-free method? Same question for my other un-opened 2 lb. spool, it's shrink wrapped, but should I ziplock it too? I don't want to waste wire, especially since the cost of consumables is/has going up.

Also, would I be able to power this mig welder with a 3500-watt generator? Just curious.

If you won't be using it within a few weeks I would recommend pulling and bagging the spool. Put some uncooked rice in to absorb any moisture.
