I've had a brainstorm :).As per usual, since I really have no idea about what I'm doing, it's apotentially dangerous brainstorm :(.The garage is getting a little cool to be working out there this timeof year & the old wood stove ain't what she used to be. Neither isthe old wood. However, I can get my hands on a good burner that cameoff my parents old hot air furness that the heat exchanger rusted outon (Metal Content :)) after 30 years (& it wasn't new when they gotit).So, I've got the burner but I need to fabricate (Welding Content :)) afire box/ heat exchanger, something that hopefully won't destroy thegarage the first time I turn my back.I was thinking of something involving a 50 Gal. drum or old hot waterheater for the box, but I have no idea about the best way to move theheat out of it. Wrap it with big springs? Big sheet metal fins? Cutholes in the box & stick pipes through it? Blow air at it with one ofthose little suction-cup 12V fans from J.C. Whitney? Rather than blowing myself up trying to re-invent the wheel I'dprefer to work from an already tested design. Anyone know of anydesigns or general design info available on the net? I've triedGoogle but didn't find anything really pertaining to what I'm lookingfor.Also, does anyone know what would be involved in trying to burn wasteoil in one of these burners? I realize I'd need a good filter, butwill a jet designed for fuel oil work with waste oil?Any & all input appreaciated!Thanks,Howard.

I acted on your suggestion - just as a safety check, and took the Carbon Monoxide detector from our house (temporarily) out to the garage and hung it directly above the air flow from the furnace I'm using out there. It hung there for about 1-1/2 hours without the slightest peep, and I have never smelled any fumes or anything from this furnace. Seems to be working fine (and took the detector back into the house). Appreciate the suggestion - and I'm glad I checked just for "peace of mind". Thanks. Ken
