Pot metal auto grill filler

Anyone know what to use to fill in an old grill that has been corroded prior to chroming. I gather they use a some sort of torch and a filler rod.

Is it silver/nickel??

The chroming people do this but charge a fortune for filling then hand sanding. They then copper, nickel, chrome plate.

Thanks Steve L.

I've *never* used it. But I've also seen technique described in magazine sized body repair How-To-s. Library might have 'em.

Look into Welco #52. Way cheaper than the stuff you find at car shows etc. and seems to be the same stuff...maybe...sorta...who knows... mike

Are you talking about an aluminum grill ? Welco 52 would work the best, but if you get the aluminum too hot - the whole thing will collapse. It dont take much either.
