Wiring for Dynasty 200DX and Hypertherm Powermax600

Tomorrow I'm purchasing a Dynasty 200DX and Hypertherm Powermax600. I have a few questions on powering these machines. First, what is the proper breaker to use on the 240V circuit to the garage? The welder's manual states 30A, while the plasma cutter's brochure lists "Input Power 40A". I was going to install a 50A breaker, until I read how handy Ernie's L14-20 plugs matched up to generators and extension cords. Since a breaker is designed to protect the wiring, and L14-20 plugs are rated to 20A, should I install a 20A breaker? Are plugs and wiring considered different? After looking at the adapters in Ernie's pictures, some of those plugs are for 30A-50A+ outlets, correct?

My second question is what gauge of wire should I use between the service panel and the outlet? The 50A breaker I was going to purchase needed #8-#2. #6 is rated at 55A. Does this have any barring on the #10 extension cords? Until I started this message, I was under the assumption I understood how electricity worked!

Third, what can I do to prevent damage to electronics from the welder's high frequency output? The manual recommends a 50' safety zone. Am I suppose to weld in the street? I have a computer in my garage and several in an office above my garage. Should I buy power filters for every electronic device in my house AND my neighbor's? I know the high frequency option is something you can turn off, but I'd like to know just how damaging it is.

In the spirit of the post on mentors, I'm just going to come right out and say I don't know anything and appreciate everything this group provides. Thanks.

Install a standard NEMA 6-50 welders plug, and then make up adapters. It should have a at least a 50 amp breaker, but a 60 amp breaker isn't a bad idea. I have a 90 amp breaker on mine, but that is for a Syncrowave 250DX.

6 ga is fine. Welders are intermittent loads so you can cheat the numbers a bit.

The high freq on the welder shouldn't interfere with anything. My computer is 10 feet from my main welding area and is on 24-7. I have never had any trouble at all.

Good then start sending me wads of cash. I do accept paypal....
