Is .90 gonna fit?

Hello fellow modelers. I have a question for y'all. I am building PT-60 from great planes and trying to buy an engine that I will be able to use later on.I was looking at ASP .91 engine. My question: Is it going to fit in my trainer ? and Is the plane will be able to fly with such oversized motor? Thanks.

I am also building a PT-60. I'm spackling and sanding; should be covering soon. I have an ASP-61 for mine.

This assumes you are looking at a two stroke 91.

I do not have the dimensions of ASP engines, but most likely they are similar to OS. The OS 91FX fits the same mount as the 61FX. The 91 is a few mm longer and taller; and the weight difference is 0.8 ounce. I'd bet you can slide the servos and battery around to balance it with no problems. You will definitely be overpowered. GP claims the plane flies well on a 46 and that you only need a 61 if you're using it as a camera or tow plane. I'm not sure I'd be thrilled with a 46, but a 61 will be plenty.

Go ahead ... there's nothing quite as entertaining to other flyers as watching either the wings fold or the plane ripping to shreds because of an overstressed airframe! Seriously, a .91 is too much for a plane that's supposed to fly slowly and gently -- we're talkin' trainer here, right? A big engine swinging a big prop is going to make you run after the plane when it's taxiiing, at least on a paved runway. It also may cause balance problems and increase wing loading, which leads to the self-destruction phenomenon I mentioned above. Many of the hotter 46s now produce the power

60 size engines did back when the PT60 was designed. Buy an engine in the recommended range and look for reliability and user friendliness rather than brute power. Save the high powered stuff for later.
