LoPo winter storage

Oct 10, 2007 6 Replies

So far, I'm not sold on EP rc planes or helis. They're too expensive and delicate!

I'm almost sure this question has been asked before, but I can't remember the answer.

I usually save the results of an important discussion, but I can't find this one in my archives.

What is the best condition to store a LiPo pack for a long winter? Fully charged or 80% dis-charged?

FMA recommends 50% charge. I currently have a call into their tech dept. to determined if their CellPro 4S Lipo charger can take a fully-charged LiPo and put it into the "storage" mode.

Kokam cells barely last 5 flights, let alone a winter,

Save your 5c.

It doesn't, first you should discharge it to something lower.

Red,

Thanks for the information. I'll run'em down a bit and then put it on the "storage" mode.

Ray

3.7v per cell is your target terminal voltage.,
