Newbee with difficult question

Please, don't laugh. ;-)
My question may be an awkward one, that's because I'm totally new to
model planes and RC planes. I need a RC plane that can fly very far
distances and fly very high altitudes.
Where do you suggest a newbee should start looking? I'm a bit
overwhelmed by the info on the net and that's why I would appreciate
some help from experienced people.
I have no idea how far (or how long) RC planes can fly or what's the
record altitudes. Please some help. And thanks a lot!!!!!
Newbee to be

You don't need a plane, you need a telescope. How do you plan on flying it if you can't see it?

I would contact the USAF and inquire about the Predator

Actually, Global Hawk has the distance (West coast to Australia). While Helios holds the altitude at 95k plus. However, I heard that Helios crashed a week or so ago.

Ok, thanks a lot.
I will explain my goals a bit further.
The plane has to carry something, fly it out, and drop it. Thereafter, the cargo will be picked up. The plane may crash, that's ok. The plane will be equipped a small GPS system and a radiobeeper. But the most important thing is that it should be able to attain an altitude of at least 2000 metres. I hope this makes things clearer. Thanks for further comments!

some people will do anything to smuggle illegal immigrants in...!!!! :)
and if you are doing that sort of stuff you want something that will fly under radar...at 2000 feet you will get picked up easily and probably shot down.
