Hood I can almost understand (again clothing) but why trunk???? It is neither a tree nor is it the nose of a large mammal or even a large suitcase. Interesting.

And what about all the words that are spelled different , have different meanings, but pronounced the same ? It has to be h*** for anyone learning the English language.

I can picture it as well, I'm sure there was a real trunk strapped to the back of at least some early cars.

Yes, point taken. Perhaps it is more true or fair to say that gross spelling and grammatical errors are more commonplace these days, but the little ones have always been there, for most of us. My original point was that major errors are showing up in print media, where you'd hope both spell-checking and proof-reading is employed. This is versus newsgroups where people hastily bang off posts between brief spurts of actually doing the job they're getting paid for, like me.

"Grammer" was intentional, "wheter" has a lot to do with my abominable typing skills - I'd never write it that way. Also I don't use the spell checker unless there is a word I'm really not sure about.

Grams of herb is for teenagers, you get old the units get bigger. Maybe that explains the grammer and speling problims..?
