S.P.A.D. Simple Plastic Airplane Design

Anyone flying one of these SPAD RC's? I found the SPAD Website and was wondering if any SPAD flyers were on this newsgroup and how the planes fly compared to balsa kits. I may attempt one...

Thanks, Bryan - MimsFlyer-FL

They fly surprisingly well. I've made several. They can take a lot of abuse. For a fast, fun, nearly indestructible flying machine I don't think you can beat them. If you are going to Perry Swap Meet (March 4 & 5) you can pick them up new for a pittance. Check Nick Neville's table. His are great and nearly ready to fly.

has lots of info on SPADs. I started flying one last summer with a 25 engine and a 30" wing span. Flies at 40-50 MPH and small enough to take on vacation in the car. I highly recommend one for just messing around.

They fly real well,We use the Spad Saturday Nite Special for combat at our club. They're tough,a bit heavy but with a TT 46 Pro.Quiet fast. We just have spare parts, mainly fuselages when one gets messed up. The wings hold up real well and will keep flying with a piece cut out from a mid/air.

They're cheap,fast and tough....

Good luck.

Bryan,

I highly recommend building one. They're fun, easy to fly and tough as nails. I always keep one or two ready to go.

Good flying, Bob Scott
