Two stroke refresher

I have been away from flying for a while and need a little refresher in eng tuning. If you apply throttle and the engine speeds up then dies which way do you adjust the low end needle. Also this is Off topic but why do I get this symbol(É) when I try to insert a question markÉ Thanks, Kevin.

You may be using an alternate character set without knowing it. You could also have a keyboard intended for another country which may have the special keys in different positions.

Regarding the engine, don't mess with the low speed needle until you get the high speed needle set. If it speeds up and quickly dies, it is too lean. Open the high speed needle 1/2 turn and try again. If you get more than three turns out, it is likely that there is something blocking the main fuel passage. You will have to take the main needle out and flush some fuel through the carb. Most engines will start and run with the main needle out about 2.5 turns from closed. This is usually a good starting point.
