Serious Problem with Futaba T6xas Transmitter

It might be as simple as the ground wire for the stick pots broke.

Sounds like a similar problem I had with a Hitec radio. Mine was fixed with the explanation that the encoder board was faulty. If channels are mixing (and you haven't got mixes) it sounds like the radio is having trouble interpretting the signal.

---- It happens that when I move the the throttle; the aileron servo movs at the same time, and when I move the rudder, then the elevator servo also moves simultaneously. Besides, the right stick does not work, as nothing moves when you move it.

So the problem is: channels 1 and 3 seem to be mixed; while channels 2 and 4 are also mixed together at the same time.

This happens independently from: servos used, receivers used, transmitter crystal used. So I am sure the problem is with the transmitter itself.

When the problem began, it started with little glitches before take off; and combining only channel 1 and 3; but not 2 and 4, and it was only an intermitent problem; now it always happens, and as I explained: with both pairs of channels ( 1 and 3 + 2 and 4).

It is not a problem o programming the radio, since I tried in "empty" models and also tried reseting the models, and the problem is the same in any model. I have also checked that no mixings are active and that I am using "acro" mode and not "heli"; also checked that I am using "ppm" mode, not pcm, since my receivers are fm.

I know that the better thing to do; would be to send the transmitter to technical service; but unfortunatly I live in Costa Rica, central America, and it would be kind of difficult to send it and to have it back; so I was wondering if there is someone who can give me the "hints" that I could tell a technician here in my country; so he can go directly to fix it. As you might spect, we do not have any specialized repair shop, where they know a "lot" about this kind of radios. We are only few people here who are rc enthusiasts.

I bought this radio in one trip to USA, and I used it not so Often, but I have never drop it or damage it in any way; I take care of it as if it were a baby; with its hard suitcase and silica gel, etc. It seems like new. I recently bouth a new battery for it (which was quite expensive) so I could have more time flying.....

I really appreciate this radio, and many aircrafts "depend" on it; and I don´t think I have really used it enough as to say that I have "wear it out"; on the contrary; I have not used it a lot, since it is my "new radio". The old one is a SkySport 6A which works beautifully since many years ago; and it is the main reason why I choosed futaba for my second radio.

Again, I would really apreciate your help; since now I am practically "landed" until I could do something about this baby.

Does anyone know if this TX has a battery on the circuit board? A bad battery might make it act strange. How many model memories do you have? What band/channel is it? Mike

Hi !!. Thank You for your answer: I have 3 models on it; but I have tried with the six models and even reseting them, and the problem is still the same. I am using channel # 34.

Thank you for your answer: I=B4ll check that out. I inspected inside the transmitter, with a friend who is a electronic technician and every thing seems to be ok; but I will check that specifically.

===== The "encoder board" as described was a Hitec item for my Hitec radio. I have no idea how Futaba radios are designed but there may be a similar board (or component). You'd have to take it to a tech familiar with Futaba radios, who would probably need to source parts from Futaba.
