I have a 7 cell nicad pack made up of Sanyo N-350mah AAC cells. I removed the shrink wrap to find the inside of the shrinkwrap to be covered with a light brown oily residue. It was easily wiped up, but I was wondering if this is acid leaking out of the cells? It doesn't look like the crusty stuff you find on the outside of leaking alkaline batteries. The pack still holds a good charge, so I think it's fine. Any ideas?
Stuff oozing out of pack?

Get rid of that pack and buy a new one, any battery leakage is a sign of a pack in failure mode.
Are the battery connections soldered or spot welded? If soldered then you might be looking at leftover flux. If welded then batts are leaking.

Hmm. Have you spilt coffee on the pack?
If the cells ARE leakin (its not clear that they are) junk the pack.
