What sort of materials are used for the fuselage sides of a 60 CC sized gasser at the firewall area? ( a plane with the engine mounted directly to the firewall - no engine box.)
From what I can tell from various pictures, a common way seems to be to use a 1/2" hard ply firewall, 1/8" balsa for the outer fuselage sides with a
3/32" or 1/8" ply doubler laminated on it back to the rear of the wing bay.Do you need to use regular aircraft ply, or will Lite ply be sufficient? It is hard to tell from photos but it looks like most of the kits and ARFs use Lite ply with a lot of lightening holes.
