Am I seeing right? This thing has a turret AND gang tooling? Their site

Any opinions on this lathe? Company? Price?



I sure would like a cnc lathe. Problem is, everytime I start itemizing capabilities, I wind up with a $500K machine. :(



$50K would be more like it, but I don't think I can get cnc with a 6" chuck (never mind an automatic chuck) for $50K -- I think the chuck alone would cost $40K..... :(



I think even an omniturn with a few bells/whistles is about $50K.



I thought about sumpn like a Haas toolroom cnc lathe, but they g-d nickel and dime you to death, and I don't know how practical such a lathe would be in the long run.

You aint seen nuttin--suggest look at some of the swiss videos that Dan occasionally posts about here.

FWIW, with proper advance planning with your garden variety chucker you can oftentimes place several tools into the same turret position--imagine a gang holder of sorts, but fixed to the turret....having several holes in a row with collet chucks to accept drills reamers taps boring bars and the like...

Ebay. Factor in the price of a plane ticket and hotel room to go and see the thing.

For $25-40k you can get a 4-axis lathe (that's x, z, c, tailstock, live tools) with chip conveyor and maybe a bar feeder. I run one (now two) and they are very productive machines. Nice to have a finished part off the machine. Add another 10-30k for a Y axis and you can have half a dozen tools per turret station. Another $10-20K for dual turrets. This is me drooling.
