The biggest value for process control in the future will be in situ analyzers. This applies not only to the process industries but also to medical, biomedical, waste water and many other industries. Measurement is the foundation of all control. Ultimately the only measurements that matter are flow and analysis. That is, quantity and quality. All the other measurements are only substitutes to get you to that point.
