Internship for electrical power engineer in the UK

hi guys,

im new here and i dnt know how active this NG is. anyway im from germany studying elec. power eng. and would like to make an 5 months internship in the UK next october. Does anyone here have tips about it? maybe contact addresses...

I think you will find placement with a UK university is one of the easiest arrangements, because universities always have plenty of research projects to do. There have been several here in recent years because a large company has both UK and German parts and each part has connections with universities, so the link is through the company, now it's an established link the connections are direct as well. One student that came a few years ago is now doing a doctorate here. (But this is a mechanical engineering group)

And look out for collaboration on current or recent EU funded projects, your university department administration should know what's been going on.

So go and talk to your industrial partnership people at your university to work out likely links, the company will probably need to have research centres in both the UK & Germany for it to work easily.
