probably cannot take the key part out by itself.. some (MOST NOW?) require the key to remove..

Look at the inside door knob. On the narrow part, there should be a little hole at 9 or 3 o'clock. Take a large paper clip, and bend one end out straight. Push that in the hole, and the door knob should pull off. Then the trim ring comes off, and exposes the mounting screws.

Please take the locks to a locksmith to be keyed up, they are better quality than any $6 junker you'll find in the discount store.

Some come off w/o key via depress pin.. Some need key turned to depress pin.

Just to add...

The way to tell them apart is by the position of the retainer poke hole. If it's at 3:00 or 9:00, you need a key to remove the outside knob. Turn the key 90 degrees and and push in on the retainer.

If the hole is at 1:30(?) or 8:30(?) (may be 4:30 or 10:30) then all you need to do is turn the (unlocked) knob so the retainer is visible through the poke hold and push in on it. (No key needed)
