CAR ALARMS

MY 97 JEEP GRAND CKEROKEE LORADO HAS A VIPER ALARM SYSTEM WITH A VOICE MODULE'. RECENTLY, STARTING WITH THE COLD WEATHER IT STARTED TO GO OFF AT RANDOM TIMES FOR NO APPARENT REASON,EVEN WHEN THE WEATHER WARMED UP. I THOUGHT OF SERVRAL POSSIBILITIES SOME ONES REMOTE OR GARAGE DOOR OPENER. A DEFECTIVE PLUNGER ( MAKE BREAK SWITCH) ON THE DOOR AND UNDER HOOD. MAYBE THE PROXIMITY SENSOR OR A SOFTWARE PROBLEM. HOW ABOUT LOOSE OR DAMAGED WIRING? I'VE HAD NO SUCCESS SO FAR IT SOUND OFF THREE OR FOUR TIMES A DAY. I THINK IT'S GREMLINS AND I NEED A GREMLIN BUSTER ANY ONE GONE THROUGH THE SAME PROBLEMS? WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR HELP AS THE FOLKS NEXT DOOR WANT ME TO MOVE

Sundown...

I also have a Viper alarm on my 96 Pontiac Grand Prix and had a very similar problem. Turned out to be the battery. I took it to an Autozone and had them check it and it had a bad cell. I replaced it and the problem went away. I'd start there - Autozone will check a battery for free so depending on how difficult removing it is this should be a simple thing to check. If the battery is fine it could be a multitude of other problems as car alarms are very sensitive to electrical problems throughout the car. You may have to run a diagnostic on it. Those can be pricey...Hope that helps. Good luck...
