discontinuity in displacement?

Dear mech community,



I just had an argument in linear beam theory concerning the displacement of a beam with punctual momentum load under consideration of shear stresses. I claim a discontinuity of displacement at the location of punctual momentum. Is that true?

though precise, this 2-byte answer is not quite satisfactory. What if the punctual momentum is the limit of a sinusoidal shear force? The integral forces would be null while the momentum is finite.
