Steam Pipe size

Jun 18, 2009 0 Replies

Not sure if this is a good question for this group or not...But I have a problem with two sizes of steam pipe coming together. We have a lp boiler supplying 4-7 psi through about 50 feet of 2 1/2 inch pipe to a main central heating system (for about 6 buildings). The 2 1/2" pipe feeds a 12 inch after the first 50 feet through an enlarger. This is a temporary system as the original system was 12 inch pipe right off the boiler. My question is does the 4-7 psi in the boiler (only location of a guage) drop along with the steam temp when it gets into the big pipe? We are having issues with heat in some buildings.
