Sigh....unfortunately..no. Wasnt a dual voltage machine.

Go look again - that "miles away" may have changed, if they've done any work in the area and extended the lead for someone else.

I still think it's a matter of making a louder squeak so your wheel gets greased. Get the other farmers and neighbors around you with large water wells and workshops involved, and organize a nice little march down to the local power utility or Co-Op office - with the obligatory torches and pitchforks, of course...

That must have been one heck of a big wheel, how many mice does it take to equal one horse power anyway?

So I'm guessing you recycled the mice into cat turds afterword :)

Oh, I'm working on it, but I'm using the Minnesota nice approach. I'm getting to know the guy that makes the decision. I'll mention all the problems I'm having by not having three phase after talking about what his kids are doing. I'll mention it again next time he comes to the town board (I'm a supervisor) for utility work permission on township property, etc, etc. Sooner or later we'll get the job done.

All of them. They all make it turn CCW, too. All in the sequence of hooking them up. Reverse any two leads and the motor reverses direction.

for those that may be unfamiliar with the slang term...

You need to buy and install all the "stuff" inside (breaker panel) and outside (meter base and mast up the side of building) PPL will run overhead wires and put in their meter. Just a note the single phase meter base was under $20.00 the three phase meter base was around $140.00 both were 200A.

Thank You, Randy

$5000 for a pair of dolly's!!! Oh, I know - it's made from depleted uranium. Seriously, how could they possibly be that much? Bob

YOu can make of buy a phase rotation tester, or you can get a small motor and hook it up and see which way it turns before you hook up something critical that will destroy itself if it turns backwards.

Yeah. Such as hydraulics systems!! We had reverse-phase protection on our stuff.

Yes in deedy. The Penn State Poultry dept lost a bunch of refrigeration compressors back about 20 (plus) years ago (my wife was working there at the time) when over some weekend the power was changed over at a substation somewhere. I guess the walk-ins smelled pretty awfull Monday morning. No reverse phase detection. I hope they corrected that. ...lew...

Yes that was my point Harold. I did teach 3phase for a few years. Have two surface grinders running on my generated and enhanced 3 phase in the shop.

Ahh! That's very different! :-)

What I learned long ago is to hook up the motor in proper sequence, A to A, B to B, and C to C, and the motor will run the proper direction for the intended application. I insure that I keep the phases in order when I make up a panel for that reason, and use color coding.

It is nice when lines are labeled. Often L1, L2, L3 or some such.

I remember a scary time when a young electrician and his dad, a master was installing a new can making machine that was made in Germany.

It had to start the first time in the right direction or the machine would 'hurt itself'. Had to come up with an instrument and then found one in the Allied catalog which proved to have more faith with the customer.
