My truck cools ok except when it is really hot outside and at idle. With an outside temp of 74 the low side pressure is 42 and the high side pressure is 115. Do these pressures sound correct?

Nope.

What refrigerant? Those sound possibly OK for R-12, a bit low for R-134a. Does it have a sight glass on the receiver?
And, idling on a very hot day may just be too much heat load and too little RPM for the system.
