Need the short one, for the Y axis. Don't mind finishing a blank, as they come O/S. Seems to be only on non OE supplier, as all the websites have the same picture. Any one know of the lowest cost source? I'm assuming new is waaaaay expensive, and besides, my broke one goes in about .250 past the max adjustment, so I'm kinda guessing a new one wouldn't have much to play with. Both of my gibs, X and Y are stamped with the number 1231. ??? BTW, where is the serial number on this thing? It's a stepped pulley head, if that helps.

FWIW, I thought I was maxed out on my Excello gib adjustment. I was all set to re-scrape the ways. When I took the table apart i seen the back of the gib slot packed with swarf. Cleaned up and re assembled. Table like new. Saved boukou $.

You could braze it back together, true it up, then apply Turcite to the sliding surface. I'll send you a strip of Gar-fil (Garlock's Turcite equivalent) if you want to try. You'd need to tell me how big and what thickness. I'm pretty sure I have 1/64, 1/32, and 1/16 thick. Maybe 1/8 as well.
Unfortunately, it's missing the other piece. But I'll take Gunner up on his offer.

The serial number is stamped in the top surface of the knee, and is likely covered by the sliding plate intended to keep chips out of the leadscrews. Crank the table back, and (if necessary) slide the plate back as well.
Somewhere, you can even find a list of the serial numbers vs the date of manufacture.
The head has its own separate serial number, FWIW -- and it may have been swapped at some time in the past.

Wow, you got another one? I am trying to reassemble a BOSS knee and saddle off the machine as much as possible to reduce downtime when I put it on my old Bridgeport. I just scored a set of BOSS X and Y leadscrews on eBay, so this project is starting to come together. (I have a 1938 Bridgeport that I converted to CNC a decade ago, but after the conversion, I am left with 7" of Y travel.) The BOSS knee has the usual 12" of travel like all later Bridgeports.
Since I'm asking, I also need the bracket that attaches the Y ballnut to the underside of the BOSS saddle. It seems to be quite different from the manual machine part. I'm guessing I will be on my own with the X conversion, as I am planning to use my 31" table with the BOSS X screw. I'm going to remove the stops on the screw to get a couple extra inches of travel. I do 19" instrument panels somewhat regularly, so If I can get ~20" of travel with a little hacking, it will be worth it.

I found some replacement gibs on eBay, so they are available. I still have a lot of work to do to get these parts ready to put back together.
