Copper crush rings

I spent way too much time today looking for copper crush rings, those things you see under banjo fittings. What is the darn key words I needed to use?

Thanks,

Wes

If the original crush washer is not damaged you can resoften them so they seal properly by heating them red hot and dropping them in water. This is commonly done with the copper washers used on aircraft sparkplugs when they are cleaned and replaced during an inspection.

You could probably get the crush washers at a good auto parts store since they are commonly used on brake lines on larger vehicles.

A "copper washer" isn't really the same thing. A "copper washer" will be a relatively hard copper, intended for use with electrical connections, a "crush washer" will be thicker and made of much softer copper for it's intended use. "Crush rings" or "crush sleeves" would more likely be aluminum, larger and intended for bearing preloads and whatnot.

Add "copper compression sleeve" to that if you find no-joy.

Thanks for trying but those are just copper washers. A crush ring tends to have < .10" difference from ID to OD.

Bingo! I used banjo in some of my earlier searches but your phrase has way more hits.

Thanks,

That is a good tip. I'm a handloader (reload ammo) annealing case necks is a common process.

Good auto parts store? We don't even have a good hardware store in town.

Thanks,

Wes

Copper washers are what they are known as in most of the world, might be different in the US but everything always is :)

We recieved what I ordered. More like washers than what I expected. I should have just ordered some copper sheet and turned a couple punches.
