DiAcro PDF issues

I downloaded a number of PDF files from

formatting link
art of bending 1 & 2

24&36" finger brake Power notcher

and so forth. Every pdf reader I have says there are errors in the documents and will not open them.

Anyone have any luck with these?

No problem with any of those with either Acrobat 5.0.5 full or Acrobat reader 6.0 under Win2K.

On Mon, 20 Feb 2006 10:30:15 GMT, with neither quill nor qualm, Gunner quickly quoth:

I downloaded them in November and they still come up for me (in Acrobat Pro 6.) File sizes in Win2k are 3,967 and 5,865kb, respectively.

I did have a problem downloading the first part of the manual, though. I see 76kb for the first half and 3,923kb for the second.

I can't access your archive link today, either but that's probably from the storm over HotLanta this morning. I'll give it an hour. (Starband balks at bad weather around the uplink here or in the downlink to GA.)

I'm using Acrobat 6.0 on a win2000 machine, no problems. Downloaded them back when you posted the ?? and someone sent the link.

When I try to go to the url, all I get is a Can't Display the Page error message. Dave Foreman

They all work fine in Acrobat 7.0.1.

I just downloaded and opened the art of bending 1 & 2 with no problems. Use both Acrobat 5.0 and Reader 7.07. You probably got a bad download the first go and need to clear your cache or rename the files before you down load them. I had this problem with some huge Porsche manuals I was downloading and had to clear the cache several times to get good downloads. HTH Glenn

I was finally aboe to down load the art of Bending files. Part two read fine, but part one is only 136K and Acrobat Reader says the file is bad and can't be repaired. Dave Foreman

I wonder what the problem is? I had no problem the first time I tried each of them, and I previously downloaded the manual for my #2 hand punch.

Anyway, if anyone is really stuck, drop me an e-mail and I'll send the missing one. None of the ones I looked at is more than 5M, so they download fast and should make it through e-mail.

Gunner, I just downloaded the Art of Bending and the 24/36 finger brake manuals and they opened fine on acrobat 6.x.

I had a lot of trouble with acrobat 7.0 locking up my machine at work (XP) so I ripped it out and went back to 6.

Good Luck, Bob

According to Gunner :

I downloaded all of those except the power notcher, and several others (including both turret punches), and all of them were no problem to read or to print. (Other than using up quite a bit of paper in total)

I was using xpdf to print them.

What means did you use to download them? If you used ftp, you need to be sure to set it to "binary" mode before downloading, or it will be trying to "fix" end-of-line sequences.

Good Luck, DoN.

I figured (after reading the other responses) that perhaps I should show the actual size of the downloaded files, and then run "sum" on them (try comparing that on your linux box):

Those worked fine for me - and thank you for the leads.

There are two 'current' and two 'obsolete' files missing.

2_Hand_Notcher_Manual 6_&_8_Power_Bender_Manual 1_Power_Rod_Parter 48_Power_Shear_Manual

If you 'save as' you will get a 5K file with a .pdf extention but it's really an .htm. If you click on the link, those open as a web page saying the page is missing. Or, just change the extention and you will see the same thing.

Try re-downloading. I snagged all there was, so if you still have trouble, I can e-mail them to you. Then again I'm on dial up so mailing a CD is not out of the question.
