Help with Index Model 40

I've recently pulled my Index model 40 mill out of storage and I am trying to get it up into working condition again. I'm pulling the quill out to have it reground and I'm not sure of how to get it out.

is where I'm having the problems.

I've taken the steel part off the top of the pulley, so the spindle is now turning free. Is the little screw at the front of any import in taking it off? Also, I don't seem to be able to get the aluminum pulley off the quill. Is there anything specific that needs to be done? Also, are the two setscrews on the quill needing to be removed to take the quill out, or are they only for removing the spindle if you want to leave the quill in?

Thanks for the help! Todd

Ok, following up to myself, the screw on the front was only a setscrew for a lockpin for the spindle. It was seized up enough it broke a screwdriver and bent another one before I could get it out. That included using PB Blaster on it.

I've taken a few more pictures of it in the semi-disassembled state:

In quill one, it shows the screw for the quill. About 2/3rds of the way to the bottom is the brass nut that is connected to the quill in some way I can't see. The screw has two through holes where the two large holes in the brass nut are. I can't feel anything in the back with a small screwdriver that might be a release. The pulley photos shows the top. The aluminum pulley wheel is spinning free of the quill, and it looks like the only way to get it off is with a bearing puller.

Any suggestions? Todd

Well following up again, just to let you know that I got it off. Calling the company, they let me know it was allen headed bolts holding the nut in place. Got them disconnected from the quill and the quill removed.
