At IMTS2004 there was a japanese company that had a glass display case with some microscopes set on top. I thought the display case was empty, as there was what appeared to be just some dust in it. Looking through the microscopes showed that the "dust" was a collection of human hairs, and thousands of little gear and pinion sets smaller than the hairs.
