After picking out little brass needles from my soft parts yet again, the time has come to get a guard for my 20 yr old ML7 ... do I ask Myford or is there a better way?
TIA

How about a piece of polycarbonate sheet (makrolon etc) somehow clamped to your toolpost? I suggest this as rather than a fixed shield as you don't want something to get in the way of normal use and a small guard following the tool path should be able to be in the line of fire of the hail of brass swarf all the time. The other round tuit you might want to consider is a shield to protect the back of the left hand when hovering over the saddle feed lever from a stream of blued steel chips! I have seen a mod to make it operable from the right hand side of the saddle but I don't know if I could retrain myself to use the other hand after 25 years of Myford use!

one way to avoid brass swarf flying everywhere is to mount the tool upside down and run the machine in reverse.... or mount upside down in a rear tool post and run the machine normally.
