Hi all,
Could anybody give me an idea as to how much oxy/acetylene cylinders cost to rent and refill? I do not foresee massive use of the set-up, so would only need smaller size cylinders. I have searched for previous threads using Google, and only found posts mentioning how expensive BOC are!
Are there any regulations governing use/storage of O/A cylinders in the home workshop??

I had a half size set for about ten years,returned them about 18 month
ago. My failing memory says that it was about £90.00 per year for both hal size bottles. I never did have them refilled.
Each year you get the standard letter from BOC saying that "owing t increased costs we have to increase prices".
There will be regulations,but none that will stop you hiring a pair.A least not when I first hired mine.

Probably not, but do check whether your insurers need to be told you've got them. They love excuses for not paying out

I have the BOC Oxygen X size, Acetylene M size. Refills for these are currently £10.60 for Oxygen and £24.75 for acetylene plus fixed charges of £8.95, all plus VAT of course. So a complete refill will set you back £52.06.
If you do not have a torch and regulators then you may find that you have to buy these. Not sure, but I think BOC do a short term hire package for the lot but I do not know what bottle size they offer. best check at your local BOC depot.
If you live within travelling distance of me (Newark.Notts.)I've got
pair of two stage regulators,hoses and torch with a few swaged nozzle for sale cheap if you need them,I don't think I shall need them again.

Rental for my bottles is currently £35/bottle.
The standard annual BOC price increase letter is due in April!! I don't think they have changed the wording significantly since I started renting many years ago.
