For those who have been following my trials and tribulations getting my Induction Furnace up and running I'm pleased to be able to report having just finished my first trail run.



This is the first time also that I've put any significant load on my diesel generator so it was good to see not only that it would deliver the power, but aslo that the noise level didn't perceptably alter from off load to 60 KW



It is quite amazing what happens to a cast iron sash weight when you hit it with 60 KW. Cold to molten in 4 minutes

Bit overkill for poached eggs on toast ? Kippers in milliseconds ?

Mind you that's about a 3 tonne load before they slap an ASBO on you.............................

For ornamental stuff I have about a ton of sash weights - hard as the hounds of hell - flows beatifully due to the high phosphorous content, but useless for engineering castings. Surely you are not offering your late lamented J&S 310

If you go to the Yahoo group 'Electro_cast' and look in the photos section under AWEM there are several there. If you are not a member you will have to register, but it is painless and spam free.

Well it got the Beast close enough and off the gravel and onto the concrete. He not only got the tea but lunch and a shower! Poor b***r had had to sleep in the cab overnight to meet his deadline.
