Most demon minis you come across follow the same well-worn silhouette, so it is refreshing to see a build that leans into something stranger. Printed Encounter's Nalfeshnee is a huge, physically powerful demon with a boar's head, and the finished sculpt reads as a demonic boar-like creature with tusks, small wings and a skull necklace. It lands somewhere between fearsome and cartoonish, and I think that mix is what makes it stand out on a shelf.
The project came together in an interesting way. A spinning wheel labeled with monster names picked Nalfeshnee as the subject, and the wheel options are now drawn from Patreon submissions. Rather than sculpting from scratch, the maker combined a previously sculpted ogre base with a cartoon boar head to start, then modified the head with sharper tusks, jagged teeth, an aggressive brow and fur detailing. Wings and accessories like earrings and a necklace were sculpted onto the figure from there. Reusing an existing base seems like a sensible starting point to me; it frees up time for the detailing that really sells a mini like this one.
The details are where this one shines. Small feathered wings sit on the creature's back, hoop earrings are sculpted on the right ear, and a necklace of skulls and bone fragments is draped over the torso. It stands on an oval display base with embossed text. The colored render shows red bumpy skin, glowing yellow eyes, a dark mane and a roaring mouth, while a separate uncolored grey render shows the raw sculpt underneath.
The free download lives on Printables, and there is a Patreon for supporting the work, with patrons able to submit entries for future wheel spins. What the next spin lands on is anyone's guess.
