Limit dimensioning - top/bottom or right/left option

Hey All,

Right now my limit dimensions default to "top/bottom" I'd like them to be side by side.

In the dimension properties there's a radio button under "dual dimension" for position but it's greyed out.

Which setting do I use to turn this on? There are some dual dimensioning dtl settings but none of them seem applicable by their description.

Is the solution a "hidden setting" ?

Thanks!

In the drawing options file, change the text_orientation value to PARALLEL. Hows that for obscure. I think that's all there is to it, but you might have to set something else. I thought I remembered seeing this question before in this group. Google groups search turned up this entry:

Dont' think that the limits display of tolerances has anything to do with dual dimensioning. which is displaying the dimension and tolerance value in, say, metric and US units, one above the other, the bottom one generally in brackets.

Hi David,

Thanks for your response, but this makes all the dimension text parallel to the dimension line globally, not exactly the effect I was looking for :)

and the dual dim radio button is still greyed out.

Why are we talking about dual dimensioning? This is a COMPLETELY separate subject from how limits tolerances are displayed. Maybe you want to do limits/dual dims, but, please! Let's get the limits business; failing at one thing is depressing enough.

I said you might have to look for some combination of options! Did you read the earlier post? Did the link come through? Did it help? When that was posted two and a half years ago, I went into a lot of detail I'd rather not repeat.

BECAUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when I limit dimensioning a DD option pops into the dimension dialogue box, leading me to think that this mind be a way to control it (did YOU read MY other post?)

i.e. when not using limit dimensioning the DD option is not there

I said you might have to look for some combination of options!

ok

Did you read

yes of course

Did the link come through?

yes

Did it help?

no

When that was

OK I was hoping for an answer that worked, at this point I've done enough looking and I'll just leave it until the checker marks it wrong.

Thanks for trying though.
